# Claude playbooks

Claude is Anthropic's general assistant, available on the web, in desktop apps for macOS and Windows, and on iOS and Android. People use it to write, analyze files, build documents and slides, and research questions. Connectors let it read and act in apps such as Google Drive, Slack and Linear, and the Research mode runs many searches before it answers.

- Vendor: Anthropic
- Kind: assistant
- Surfaces: web, desktop, mobile, browser
- Connects: Connectors are MCP servers. Add one from the Connectors Directory or paste a remote MCP server URL as a custom connector. Desktop extensions add local servers. Skills can be uploaded and shared. For web tasks it uses a built-in browser on desktop or your own Chrome through Claude in Chrome.

## Good at

- Research mode runs several searches that build on each other and returns an answer with citations you can check
- Reading and acting in your connected apps through connectors, with the same access you have in each app
- Producing documents, spreadsheets and slides as artifacts you can edit or share
- Keeping instructions, files and context together in projects

## Limits

- Research and agent tasks need a paid plan, and Research uses up usage limits faster than normal chat
- Custom connectors must be reachable from the public internet, and Anthropic does not verify them
- Local files, apps on your computer and browser control need the desktop app, not the web or mobile app
- On Team and Enterprise plans an owner must turn on each connector before members can use it
