# Manus playbooks

Manus is a general AI agent that takes a goal and returns finished work, such as slides, websites, reports and data analysis. Each task runs on its own cloud computer with a browser, a file system and the ability to install software. Meta bought the company in late 2025, but Chinese regulators ordered the deal undone, and Manus said in August 2026 that it would run as an independent company again.

- Vendor: Manus AI (Butterfly Effect)
- Kind: assistant
- Surfaces: web, desktop, mobile, browser, slack, api
- Connects: Prebuilt MCP connectors, plus custom MCP servers over HTTPS under Settings, Integrations. Skills can be uploaded, built from a chat or imported from GitHub. Also connects to Slack, Zapier, email (Mail Manus) and an API.

- Docs: https://manus.im/docs/introduction/welcome

## Good at

- Long research and build jobs that end in a file, a slide deck or a published website
- Web tasks in your own logged-in Chrome or Edge through the Browser Operator extension
- Reusing a working process as a Skill, built from a SKILL.md file plus scripts

## Limits

- Every task spends credits, and complex tasks spend more. The free plan has a limited monthly allowance and the docs give no fixed numbers.

- The Browser Operator needs your desktop browser online. The mobile app can start and watch tasks but cannot run it.
- News reports say Manus planned to delete some user data created after the Meta deal as part of the unwind, so check what your account still holds.
