Hermes Agent use cases

Hermes Agent is an open-source, MIT-licensed agent from Nous Research. It runs in a terminal or desktop app, and a gateway lets you reach it from Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal and email. It keeps memory across sessions and writes its own skills from tasks it has done.

Good at

• Remembering you across sessions, with search over past conversations
• Turning finished tasks into reusable skills in the agentskills.io format
• Scheduled jobs and subagents that run work in parallel
• Running commands locally or in Docker, over SSH or in cloud sandboxes such as Modal and Daytona

Limits

• The default terminal backend is local, so commands run on your own machine unless you pick another backend
• Some built-in tools, such as the hosted browser, come bundled with an optional paid Nous Portal plan or need your own keys
• Antivirus tools on Windows may flag a bundled installer file, which the project calls a false positive
